Decision making power of a human can affect the life of many peoples and also can destroy the same. So it becomes essential to know about Social Engineering for all the citizen of country as well as for the children to learn about it. As a result of the efforts put by the many well established organizations it has been seen that social engineering field has also evolved during the last few decades. Now peoples are showing interest on what Social Engineering is and what their techniques are. Some well known techniques are needed to be discussed here.

Social Engineering is all about in terms of security for everyone and safety has made techniques which human tendency tries to adopt it some of them are:

Pre-texting in social engineering : The victims of Social Engineering usually focus on learning what is Social Engineering and how they can make other teach about it. They usually ask a question regarding their experiences and financial gains they have given to the economic growth.

Another aspect for pre-texting is that it is invented way back ago just to fit into place for another victim for divulging information provided in favor of them. This technique can be made useful by the victims by blaming the business men for their mistake of showing the private information for just gaining the knowledge about the records. What is Social Engineering has become the main question which can be answered by using this technique as this is well used to imitate members, co-workers and all the high authorities.

Diversion theft in Social Engineering : Another technique known by the name of corner rather Round corner game, a game which is famous in London, U. K. New employee shows huge risk management which is of personnel type just to find out about Social Engineer. Social Engineering has many different fields on which this kind of technique can appeal for your case legitimately to the administrators for the co-workers to solve the company issues. Social Engineering comprises of another variation on this technique making the security code secret for every member.

For every companies the big question apart from what is Social Engineering is that all the members are asking the same question on how and what a company taking steps to help and protect the risk management. The solution is the reception of the report that they obtain although a similar techniques is used by every other company hence it turns to be a worthless technique.

Phishing Feature of Social Engineering : largely used techniques used to make the information and data set for Social Engineering is answered by sending email to their co-workers just to convince them for the business. Social Engineers are making a business by their decisions and achieving the best outcomes and profit. Even in the neighboring countries of U. K. have started researches on what Social Engineering is all about and how advanced techniques are used to include the reliable data set. Another aspect of this technique is the verification of the information by using the bar code fixed on the each machine.

Security has become outer most important and hence people are using various techniques of social engineering. What is Social Engineering is the focus point for all these techniques apart from this there are victims with their machine bar code reader and also the surface techniques that are legitimately made for the co-workers, members are company peoples.

Twitter, did you learn nothing from Path’s recent kerfuffle? Customers do not like it when you remotely store their personal information, especially without telling them.
The company has acknowledged that it collects and stores contact information gleaned from a user’s address book—including names, emails, and phone numbers—through its mobile apps. Every time you activate the “Find My Friends” feature, the app will apparently transmit the entirety of your address book to Twitter’s servers where the data is maintained for 18 months. This affects both iOS and Android users.

Twitter’s current privacy policy only seems to refer to this activity in that some portions of “log data” can be stored for that duration, though the policy only explicitly refers to transmitting your, “IP address, browser type, the referring domain, pages visited, your mobile carrier, device and application IDs, and search terms.” Maybe your address book counts as a search term?

Twitter has issued a statement through its spokeswoman, Carolyn Penner. “We want to be clear and transparent in our communications with users,” Penner wrote in an email to the LA Times. “Along those lines, in our next app updates, which are coming soon, we are updating the language associated with Find Friends — to be more explicit. In place of ‘Scan your contacts,’ we will use “Upload your contacts” and “Import your contacts” (in Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android, respectively).” However, unlike Path, which pushed an immediate app update and deleted the offending data from its servers, Twitter has yet to set a release date for the next software roll-out.

HTC edged out Samsung Electronics to become the largest smartphone vendor in the US, capitalising on the Android platform’s popularity and a lull in demand for iPhones to overtake Apple and Research In Motion. A 10 percentage-point jump in share from a year earlier gave Taoyuan, Taiwan-based HTC 24% of the world’s largest smartphone market in the third quarter, ahead of Samsung’s 21%, Palo Alto, California-based researcher Canalys said in a statement on Tuesday.

Apple fell to third at 20% while RIM, maker of the BlackBerry, had 9%. HTC, which made the world’s first phone using Google’s Android in 2008, benefited from strong relationships with US carriers and made different models for each operator. Apple’s iPhone 4S and new devices from Suwon, South Korea-based Samsung may help the two global smartphone leaders gain share in the US this quarter as HTC forecasts its first shipment decline in almost two years. “Because iPhone 4S wasn’t yet ready during the quarter, there was a window of opportunity for others, and HTC benefited from this,” said Wang Wanli, who rates the stock “buy” at RBS Asia in Taipei. “HTC has historically done more customisation of handsets, which has made operators more willing to market and sell their devices.”

APPLE, SAMSUNG

HTC sells its high-end models, which include faster processors and higher-quality cameras, for less than similar Samsung products, Wang said. Samsung offers more low-price models overall, bringing its average sales price below the Taiwanese company’s, he said. HTC and Samsung benefited from the rising popularity of the Android operating system, while Cupertino, California-based Apple was affected by consumers awaiting the next iteration of the iPhone, Canalys said.

Android has 44% of the US market for smartphones in use, Apple’s iOS has 27%, and the BlackBerry OS 20%, Reston, Virginia-based Com-Score said earlier this month. Samsung and Apple are the two largest smartphone vendors globally, followed by Nokia, UK researcher Strategy Analytics said last week

PHP developers, the world’s fourth-largest developer group, now have an option enjoyed by other leading languages: they can collaborate on new software in the cloud, then deploy it to the cloud.

Microsoft illustrated the value of software development in the cloud when it made Visual Studio tools available for collaborative use on Windows Azure. Popular platforms as a service Heroku and Engine Yard did the same for Ruby developers. VMware’s Cloud Foundry is a development environment for Java developers. And IBM has its developer’s SmartCloud.

Zend Technologies has joined their ranks on behalf of PHP developers with PHPcloud.com. In addition to providing tools, Zend will give developers the option of deploying their finished applications to Amazon’s EC2, IBM SmartCloud, Rackspace, or Red Hat’s Cloud Foundation. The multi-cloud deployment option may be a draw for PHP developers, who have thus far had few collaborative environments to choose from.

Zend will offer Zend Development Cloud, a set of PHP tools, and Zend Application Fabric, an application server and other deployment middleware, as a development platform on Amazon’s EC2. Instead of requiring a developer to fire up an Amazon virtual server to get started, a developer will sign in and be given a slice of an existing server so he can immediately start writing code in his own sandbox.”We’re going to make Zend Development Cloud a powerful troubleshooting environment,” said Andi Gutmans, CEO of Zend Technologies, in an interview. Code tracing, a feature of application server Zend Server, can capture the execution of an application request and allow developers to replay the way its functions execute to troubleshoot any problems.

Gutmans, one of the original developers of PHP with CTO Zeev Suraski, believes software development in the cloud will be more productive than on premises. Developers may coordinate their efforts more easily there and a standard development environment can be equipped with better troubleshooting tools.

Rediff has launched a twitter-like product called Zarabol that works just like Twitter. That is, you share your updates (140 chars), follow people and topics (#hashtags).

Given that quarterly results are to be announced very shortly, I’d assume that Rediff has got something new to talk to its shareholders. Otherwise such products add no value, especially when Rediff has no social graph and engagement is more via comments (on articles) and not within users.

Aside, its a sweet coincidence that Rediff earlier had an IM product called Bol (which was inspired by Yahoo/ICQ chat service) and Zarabol is ofcourse, inspired from Twitter – i.e. move along with the times.
Rediff: The Rising Traffic (?)

And while you thought that Rediff is on a decline (mind share: yes, traffic:?)? Take a look at the latest UV (Unique Visitors) chart

What Rediff has done right is creation of semi-porn/crunchy sites (like Bigg Boss5, Vidya Balan’s Photos (Dirty Picture), Kareena Kapoor Photos etc etc) – which helps the site with a lot of SEO. Unlike ‘content farms’ like In.com, Rediff has taken a (proxy) UGC approach (though be assured that a lot of updates on these SEO-driven pages is coming from company’s editorial team) to increase site activity.

The big jolt, as far as Rediff is concerned – came not so much from a single competitor as it came from the fact that users moved away from portals altogether.. In other words, Rediff, which has tasted success earlier being “India’s Yahoo”, now was caught in the trap of trying to emulate what the Yahoo’s and Google’s of the world were doing. Unfortunately for them, Yahoo, like Rediff, was fighting its own battles anyhow, and Google could afford some experiments on the back of its search success – a luxury that Rediff hardly had. It is not that none of the product ideas above had merit, or should have not been attempted. Its just that as a company, there seemed to be a lack of direction, or coherent strategy

Finding free images for your blog, presentation or project can be a hassle. Here are 10 ways to find free images. Most of the sites provide photos that can be used for any purpose, private or commercial.

For this post, we tested scores of sites. These are the ones with the best photos and the least confusing license agreements.

BurningWell
At Burning Well you can browse or search a large collection (how large is not stated on the site) of images donated by photographers from around the world. All images are in the public domain, so you are allowed to use them freely for any purpose, commercial or private.

Everystockphoto.com
On Everystockphoto.com you can browse or search 12,263,074 free photos. The photos come from many sources and are license-specific. You can view a photo’s license by clicking on the license icon, below and left of photos.

Flickr
Many photographers on Yahoo’s popular photo sharing service Flickr tag their photos with Creative Commons licenses. Millions and millions of photos are available in Flickr’s Creative Commons repository. There are different Creative Commons licenses, some of which restrict the use of the photo to non commercial use. Here is an explanation of the different Creative Commons licenses. We have previously described three ways to search Flickr Creative Commons photos.

FreeFoto.com
FreeFoto.com is made up of 132,413 images with 182 sections organized into 3636 categories. The photos are free to use however you like, but a link back and attribution are required. See the free use rules. You can download with watermark or use the Share option for your blog, website or social network, which gives you an embed code to copy and paste to your site of choice.

FreeImages
At FreeImages you can search more than 6000 photos or browse 78 categories. Images are provided free of charge for both commercial and personal use under an attribution license, which means you have to state the name of the photographer.

Freerange Stock
At Freerange Stock, you can sign up for a free membership, log in, and download high-quality, high-resolution free stock photos and free textures. All images are at least 2400 x 1600, and photos can be used for commercial or personal projects.

Karen’s Whimsy
Karen’s Whimsy is different. You will find beautiful images gleaned from old books, magazines, and postcards. They are all from material printed prior to 1923 and are in the public domain. You can find e.g. illuminated letters, silhouettes, greetings, etc.

Public Domain Photos
Public Domain Photo contains 5000 free stock photos. All photos on this web site are public domain. You may use thes images for any purpose, including commercial.

Wikimedia Commons
Wikimedia Commons is a sister site of Wikipedia, containing a staggering 11,262,914 media files. You can browse by category or search for images. The photos are owned by the individual creators. However, almost all may be freely reused without individual permission according to the terms of the particular license under which it was contributed to the project. Some licenses may require that the original creator be attributed. You do not need to obtain a specific statement of permission from the licensor (unless you wish to use the work under different terms than the license stated). Copyright and licensing information is supplied for each image.

According to a recent report by the StatCounter web analytics firm, Google Chrome is on track to pass Mozilla Firefox’s number of users by December of this year. Unless Mozilla Firefox, which is the world’s second-most used browser in the world, can put an end to Chrome’s rapid growth rate, the Firefox browser era may be coming to a close.

The report indicates that since January of 2011, Chrome has captured an additional 8% of the global internet browser market share. This increase, which represents an astounding 50% growth rate, has increased Chrome’s total market share from 15.6% to 23.6%. The simultaneous growth in Chrome’s market share and decrease of both Internet Explorer’s and Mozilla Firefox’s market share indicates that Chrome’s growth is at the expense of its competition.

During the same time period that Chrome was rapidly growing, both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer were shrinking. Since the beginning of this year, Mozilla Firefox has fallen to 26.8% of the global market share, a drop of four percentage points. Although Internet Explorer fell four percentage points during the same time period, is remains the most-used browser in the world with a market share of 41.7%.

In an effort to compete with the rapidly growing Chrome browser, Firefox has accelerated its development process and now releases a new version every six weeks. However, it does not appear that the “rapid development” strategy is preventing Firefox users from defecting to Chrome.

If Firefox wants to prevent fulfillment of StatCounter’s prediction that Chrome will become the world’s second most used internet browser by the end of the year, Firefox must take measures to prevent additional users from making the switch.

Factor #1: Search Engine Optimization (Write Headlines Google Will Love)

Content writers today must please Google with their headlines as much as their readers. This may entail sacrificing clever ideas in favor of targeted keywords.

If you’re a writer, the pressures to consider SEO can be frustrating. But it can actually be fun channeling your creative juices into coming up with something brilliant under severe constraints. Kind of like writing a few sonnets or a haiku.

And the payoff can be huge: A grabby, well-optimized headline can attract traffic to your site not only today, but potentially for years down the road. That’s why SEO knowledge is an essential skill for anyone writing online headlines.

Factor #2: Social Media (Write Shareable Headlines)

Social media is playing an increasingly important role in determining which of our site pages are read, and by how many people. Consider this: if an article you write—with a great headline—gains traction on Facebook, you’ll see a surge in traffic to that page. And with social media, the effect can be nearly instantaneous. Instead of waiting days for Google to index your pages, you can gain thousands of immediate visitors by going viral on Twitter.

Something else to consider is the fact that social media optimization is now overlapping with SEO—meaning that Google looks for “social signals” when calculating page ranking. If your page is widely shared on Twitter and Facebook, it gets a thumbs-up from Google that can be just as powerful as a link-back from an authority domain.

Factor #3: Word Count (Write Headlines That Say More with Less)

Writing short, punchy headlines pays—in more ways than one.

For example, on Twitter, the maximum length of a Tweet is 140 characters—including the shortened URL, which typically is 17 characters in length. When you factor in leaving room for the retweeting command (which allows others to share your tweet), you could be left with as little as 80 characters for the headline. If you can get your point across in that limited space, you’ll have a tweet that can be easily shared by others again and again.

And shorter headlines simply do a better job of commanding people’s attention. Remember the lightning bug headline from earlier? It’s a mere 5 words long. Pick up any newspaper and you’ll spot a similar trend. Whether standing in the checkout line or viewing a web page, readers scan before they read in-depth. So piquing their interest as quickly as possible is crucial.

Factor #4: Isolation

As content writers, we generally assume readers will see the headline right above the body content—or at least with an accompanying photo, image or block of introductory text. In these instances, the headline works only when read in conjunction with one of more of these other elements.

But what if your headline is read as part of an RSS feed, on Facebook, or Google+?

With social media, we must write headlines with the knowledge they may be read in isolation, without supporting text or blurbs. On social media sites, when headlines are seen alone or listed with hundreds of other headlines, they must be fully understandable and compelling enough to get the reader to click through.

Factor #5: Design

Is the visual design of an online headline important? You bet it is. When people scan a page quickly on a social networking site like Digg, for example, it’s critical to catch their eye and command their attention. Consider these two headlines:

* Photo of Octopus with Nine Arms
* Octopus With 9 Arms! [PHOTO]

The second version has been designed with social media in mind. Which version of the headline would catch your eye in a fast-moving Twitter stream?
